Albert Modley
Albert entered the world at Liverpool in
1901 and left it 78 years later from
sunny Morecambe.
A talented, versatile musician with a gift for comedy, he toured the country doing variety shows and pantomimes. Having learnt his craft in the clubs he topped the bill on many a summer season. During his long career he found the time to star in three of the early British films. Radio was also featured and he contributed to Bandbox which reached audiences of 10 to 14 thousand on the BBC Ovserseas Service. He settled in Morecambe with his wife Doris and together they opened Modley’s Restaraunt, situated on the town’s promenade. The final issue of the UK's Comic Cuts magazine featured a cartoon of Albert Modley on its cover. This was the magazine's final and 3,006th edition.
